Why Brown Skin Too?

It’s a myth that people of color don’t get skin cancer.

We’ve heard way too many people say:

I don’t need SPF, my melanin-kissed skin is my natural protection from the sun.

Darker skin is not a guarantee against melanoma. The five-year survival rate for the disease is only 78% among African-Americans. And although melanoma accounts for less than 2% of skin cancer cases, it causes a large majority of skin cancer deaths.
